Exploring the Metaverse: MIAT for OnLive Campus at the Torino Film Industry!

As a member of the scientific committee of Onlive Campus and Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo, our CEO and founder Elisabetta Rotolo hosted a unique and inspiring panel during the TFI Torino Film Industry, also this year in collaboration with the 41st edition of the Torino Film Festival.

The panel, titled: “Exploring the Metaverse” and moderated by our CEO, saw the participation of two significant figures in the international audiovisual landscape. Domenico De Gaetano from Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino and Manuel Rima from Rai Cinema. In their enlightening conversation, they dove into the potential of Immersive Technologies for creating new experiences and experimenting with new languages the future of the Italian audiovisual landscape. They explored how the Metaverse can become a main platform for reaching new audiences and promoting our culture with the use of new strategies and narrations that include interaction, aspects of gamification, and immersive storytelling.

OnLiveCampus is at the forefront of the digital landscape, exploring the intersections of new technologies with the performing arts and live entertainment. Positioning itself as Italy’s pioneering platform, bringing together artists, institutions, policymakers, businesses, and academia to explore the relationship between live performances and emerging technologies.

The OnLive project, conceived by Piemonte dal Vivo – Circuito Regionale Multidisciplinare in 2020, during an emergency context, develops the strategic trajectory of the Foundation dedicated to digital and new technologies, observing their relationships and intersections with the performing arts and live performances. OnLive Campus, under the scientific direction of Simone Arcagni (professor of New Media and New Technologies at the University of Palermo), is the first format in Italy that brings together the artistic sector, institutions, policymakers, companies, and the academic world to investigate the relationship between live performances and new technologies.

Increasingly fluid and hybrid, OnLive Campus finds its natural placement within the TFI, a market, meeting, and workshop for international co-production that focuses on new talents and trends in cinema and audiovisual. Our CEO has been a member of the OnLive Scientific Committee since 2020, contributing to shaping this journey of discovery of new processes, and fostering creative products, amid forms of hybridization and contaminations.
