What does the Masterclass include?

15 hours Masterclass in Immersive Transmedia Storytelling Masterclass, combines lectures, hands-on practice with XR technologies, final project work.

In a world where audiences crave interactivity, depth, and connection, Immersive Transmedia Storytelling is the key to building stories that live across platforms and invite active participation. In the Immersive Transmedia storytelling Masterclass masterclassyou will learn how to design experiences that blur the lines between audience and author, digital and physical, story and life. Our Immersive Transmedia Storytelling Masterclass is an intensive two-day learning experience designed to empower creatives, technologists, and storytellers to craft immersive, participatory storyworlds that span digital, physical, and hybrid platforms. At the core of this workshop is a practical, hands-on methodology: you will not only learn the principles of transmedia design but actively create your own prototype of an immersive narrative experience. From XR and AI to live events and branded installations, this masterclass provides the tools to build cross-platform stories that engage, surprise, and transform audiences.

You will work with MIAT Course Director, David Bassuk, Professor of Theater Arts at State University of New York, Purchase College and Creative Director White Horse Immersive and, Elisabetta Rotolo, MIAT CEO & Founder, Director, Creative & Executive Producer.

Who is the Immersive Transmedia Storytelling Masterclass for?

The Masterclass is aimed at Marketing managers & communication managers, innovation officers & tech consultants, CEOs, cultural managers & event managers, experience designers, game creators, theater-makers, XR/AR specialists, educators, interactive media artists, and innovators from the arts, cultural, and creative industries digital artists, technologists & creatives in all fields, no prior transmedia experience is required, just curiosity and a passion for storytelling.

What will I learn?

  • Transmedia Foundations: Understand how stories can unfold across multiple media, from live events and installations to digital platforms, games, XR, and social media.
  • Storyworld Architecture: Learn to build narrative systems rather than single plots. Develop storyworld bibles, timelines, and logic structures to guide audience exploration.
  • Immersive Design Principles: Explore sensory design, space, tempo, and presence as building blocks of narrative immersion.
  • Participant Agency: Discover methods to embed decision-making, character interaction, and audience co-authorship into your story structure.
  • Narrative Mapping Tools: Use frameworks like journey mapping, interaction matrices, and media layering to choreograph cross-platform experiences.
  • World Logic & Diegetic Design: Create cohesive story environments where every object, action, and location carries narrative meaning.

At the end of the Masterclass, you will realise a working prototype of an immersive transmedia story and gain a toolkit of narrative design methods that you can apply immediately to your own practice
